Look what followed me home!
A Colt Army Special in original condition. It has broken, but still usable grips. I've found grips for sale, and will likely replace them at some point. The finish is pretty poor, but there's no real pitting to speak of, the bore is shiny with sharp rifling, and it is mechanically sound. It locks up as tight as can be expected for what it is, and it is definitely shootable (the previous owner said he shot it occasionally.)
It isn't as pretty as Xavier's Colt, but I got a pretty good deal on it, so I'm happy.
I am still researching the history. Anyone have any good links or info for me? Proof House says 1912 manufacture date. Here is a parts diagram. Can anyone tell me anything else about it?
