The whole "in the business" language is pretty vague, which is why most folks who are licensed collectors err on the side of caution.
My question is, if I buy a lot of identical 3 C&R firearms with the intention of only keeping the best one and selling the other two, would that run afoul of my FFL03 license? The point is to improve my collection by "hand picking" the best of the lot and disposing of the rest. It would not be my intention to buy and sell guns for a profit. Would it just be safer to sell the unwanted ones for the exact purchase price?
Just a hypothetical question really, since I probably won't be doing this any time soon.
On the other hand, I AM itching to buy something soon. Mostly so I can laugh at non-crufflers and say "look, I just legally bought a gun on the internet and had it delivered to my door without a dealer or a background check." |
