Story here
and here.
The two armed employees showed enough restraint to not return fire in a crowded place. So much for the theory that all CCW holders are just dying to get their guns out and shoot someone. Of course, had they shot this clearly disturbed man, they would have been in the right. They chose not to, probably because it was unsafe to do so. That is the responsible use of a concealed firearm. The criminal, on the other hand, looks like he'll be spending the remainder of his miserable life behind bars, which is fine by me. Only criminals pull out their illegally owned (and illegally concealed) guns over minor disputes. Law abiding citizens do not. They have a right to protect their business and themselves," police Capt. Pat Maney said. "They showed great restraint by not firing back ... That store has been robbed several times." Glad to see there's a police captain on that liberal east coast who understands that citizens have the right to self defense.
I just hope IGA doesn't fire these employees. I'm sure if it were Publix, they would have been fired before the ink dried on the police report... ya know, for having the audacity to protect themselves against an armed criminal.
One quick note for Jerome Burdi: for the record, it is dishonest or maybe just stupid to refer to drawing a concealed weapon for self defense as "whipping out a gun". |
