Did any one here know that a GNU was a water buffalo?? I have never in my life heard of this "gnu" animal until last night when Greg made my mind explode.
I was watching the hubby code, which is one of my favorite things for many reasons.
1)How sexy is it when men program! I don't know if any one agrees, but for me intelligence is hot!
2)For me since I am completely naive in the ways of the computer, I entranced when Greg seemingly hits a bunch of random keys and magic things happen to the computer. (I know I'm like a kid sometimes )
3) I also like it when he codes for one more reason.....My web page gets better!! And when there is more to do on my web page, there is something to do at work.
Anyway, so I was watching Greg code, and he pulled up something called a "man file"??? Lets hope that's what it's called and I was reading over his shoulder and asked, "Greg what's a GNU grep?" For those of you who don't know what a "GNU grep" is NEVER ASK!! I'm one of those people who when ask a simple question, demand an answer that makes sense, is clear, and has a freakin' end!
Greg's definition of GNU grep----> "GNU gnu some r-word,some e-word, and some p-word" I had a problem with this in like 1st grade we learn that in a definition you can't use the word your defining in the definition. So I say ok fine smart @$$, then what does GNU stand for. "GNU is not unix." I want to smack him, until I realize he's not joking. Then I just cry! Well I don't cry, but I do whine a bit about not understanding and I get all flustered. Greg by the way thinks this is the funniest thing ever. Especially when he said, "Just think of it as a water buffalo." I just fell over, my brain seeped onto the floor, and I screamed.
I made him pull up GNU in the dictionary. And Greg showed me pictures of these gnu water buffalo. Then it said those magic words in the 3rd definition, "GNU is not unix." Arg there we were again...
*Conclusion* Recursive acronyms are just "funny jokes." There are kinds of animals that I have never heard before. And Greg thinks it's funny when his computer programming makes me crazy.
