Cat Trouble |

Let me first say that I do like cats. I like them a whole lot in fact. Problem is that they don’t like me. Well, to be completely honest, my body doesn’t like them. I’m really allergic to cats. I can take them for about 15 minutes in someone’s house as long as I don’t touch them. Any longer than that and my eyes and throat start swelling shut. It’s not a good situation. I take zyrtec and flonase but they barely help my normal allergies to pollen and mold and all kinds of other yucky stuff. For years I’ve had to avoid Greg’s family’s houses, friends houses, etc. It’s a pain, but it’s never been a big problem before now. As you know Dad just got married. Well he married a cat lady. 2 cats. One house. Dad’s not living in his house any more and for many reasons is going to sell it and live with her. That means I can’t go home to visit and stay with my dad. This has got be emotionally reeling. I’ve cried and complained and am generally depressed. He’s my safety net. I like knowing I can always go home. And him and COnnie make a wonderful safe home for me to go to. That is if she didn’t have 2 cats. I’m broken hearted over the entire situation. We’ve talked about different options and Dad has said that he can just come down here, but he doesn’t have very much vacation and me not working have a whole lot of free time that i would love to spend with them.
So after a lot of brain storming, I decided to call an allergist. As you also may know I’ve had a struggles with my insurance not covering my mental health. So I called them today to get my benefits on allergies. To my surprise, they cover 100% doctors visit, 100% testing, and if i can do it I pay only $5 for allergy shots. So I’ve decided that if it will help I’ll go get allergy shots every week if i have to. It means a lot to me to be able to visit my dad, so I’ll pretty much do anything. I’ve got an appointment next month, so wish me luck and pray that we can find a solution to this problem.
If anyone has any ideas or help, I sure would appreciate it. |
