US to allow sending cell phones to Cuba.
This isn't really a policy change... the US policy is to do whatever we can to passively destabilize the communist regime. Giving the people of Cuba a better means of communication is one way to that.
The thing is, cell phones aren't magical. They require towers and service to work. Those are still controlled by the Cuban government. That means that even if US cellphones are allowed to connect, they are still subject to control and monitoring by Castro's government. |
