That artificial reef? Yeah, not such a good idea to use old tires to make it. Stupid. Turns out it is actually an ecological disaster and a perfect example of the government fucking something up that they should leave alone.
In Alabama, fishing charter companies are required to put out their own artificial reefs... so, since their livelihood depends on good fishing, they do it right. Here in Florida, we just thought it would be a good idea to dump a bunch of trash into the gulf and hope that Snapper and Grouper would decide it was a nice home. Not so much. Instead of having thriving fishing grounds, we're spending even MORE tax-payer money to remove the tires.
Remember this next time you hear "We're from the government, and we're here to help."
