It is officially Hurrican Season. "Mainstream survivalism" is a joke to those of us in hurricane-threatened states, we've been doing all of that stuff for years. We all know to keep extra water, canned food, batteries, etc. in our special hurricane-readiness kits and bug-out-bags.
Of course, many of us also stockpile extra ammunition, especially since we saw what happened in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. But many people fail to remember, while you are out stocking up on Ammo, don't forget to also stock up on gun oil and Hoppes #9 (or your favorite gun cleaner.) A gunky gun that jams up won't help you when fighting off the hordes of looters and/or zombies. In addition, post-hurricane/societal-breakdown conditions are often wet. If you don't keep your firearms oiled, they will rust and become useless.
This has been a PSA from your friendly Tampa Bay Hurricane/Zombie preparedness center.
