Bob Buckhorn, one of BN9's political analysts applauds Obama's campaign decision to set up their Florida headquarters in Ybor City. "This is what America looks like," Buckhorn said.
I'm sorry, but no. Ybor city is not what "America looks like". Ybor city is a densely-populated, high-crime, urban center. Sure, it has some nicer areas, and it has improved greatly in recent years... but is that what you really think "America looks like"? Maybe it does in Obama's world. To me, Ybor is a place to go to out to dinner or buy a box of hand-rolled cigars. It isn't a place I'd want to actually live.
Regardless, Obama knows he needs Florida's Hispanic vote to take the state, and quite possibly the entire election. Thankfully, we have a Senator who is both Hispanic, and a Republican (er... RINO, but at least he tows the GOP line.) I think that is proof that Obama can't necessarily rely on Florida's Hispanic population to fall over themselves to vote Democrat.
The other thing is, he is bound to disenfranchise the Cuban-American population by choosing to be friendly with the Castro regime. The people down here universally hated Fidel, they still hate Raoul, and most of them want a foreign policy that will lead to democracy in Cuba.
No amount of "strategically locating campaign headquarters" is gonna change any of that. |
