As I predicted, the city of St. Pete Beach is
removing the T-Groins.
I like the artificial reef idea. It is less invasive, less ugly, has more staying power, and will provide more near-shore habitat for tasty fish. There are already a number of successful and unsuccessful artificial reefs. If they do it right, it could be a very good thing. But, as always, you gotta worry about the gov't coming up with stupid, complicated solutions to relatively easy problems... so I'm not holding my breath. |
