Yet another attempt. This is a true, proven commercial technology, Hmmm. I seem to remember hearing about this in a history class or something.
The idea is pretty old, but I guess as energy becomes more expensive, people are willing to try anything. In this case, it isn't so much a failed technology as one that was too expensive and inefficient. Now that they can get away with charging more for the resulting energy, the expensive process has become viable.
I don't personally think coal gasification is a solution... but it may be part of one. I've always said what our nation needs is a diverse energy solution, not a silver bullet. Neither hippies nor oil barons are capable of understanding that. |
