In the course of shopping for "the right" holster for my lovely wife, we've considered a lot of options. At one of the ranges we frequent, the sales guy recommended a kydex or nylon holster for daily carry, because he said that leather holsters start stinking really bad due to the high heat/humidity in Florida.
My daily carry rig is a modified Blade-Tec Ultimate Concealment IWB kydex holster, so I don't have that problem. I also carry my Kel-Tec in leather a Don Hume JIT holster that either sits on my belt, or in my pocket... haven't noticed any stinkage yet, but it also isn't what I normally carry, so it normally sits in the holster drawer.
So my question is, do leather holsters get really nasty in hot/humid climates? Is it mostly leather IWB holsters you have to worry about? Most of the gun shop personnel wear synthetic material holsters both for open-carry at work, and concealed carry everywhere else. I never really thought about it before, but I figure I might as well ask before we invest any serious money in new holsters.
