So today, I played with my dog the whole day. Watched some of the Emmys, which sucked this year, except for John Stewart. Penny agrees.
Watched part of survivor. Tired of reality TV. Even the good channels, like TLC are doing them now. *looks longingly up to the sky with clenched fists* "When will this miserable fad end!"
Granted, some of the less popular ones are just fine... Trading Spaces, While You Were Out, etc. But these major network ones can take a big ol' collective flying fuck at a rolling donut. My rule is, I will watch them until I hear certain phrases, then the TV goes back to the Discovery Wings Channel. Here is a partial list of those phrases:
"back stabbing"
"you slept with him?"
"whatever! (with the hand waving thing)"
"he's the weakest link"
"one hundred and ten percent"
...
And anyone on a "diary" cam explaining to the world in such a matter-of-fact way something that nobody with half a brain gives a shit about.
Yesterday we went up to Scottdale, PA... its such a quaint little place... town fair... Amish people... small town band playing in the town center... good old fashioned wholesomeness, visually broken up by a group of about five psuedo-gothic-punky-alternative-somethingrathers. If there is a single town in America (outside of Wisconsin and Nebraska) where that much black clothing, facial peircings, etc, are out of place, it is Scottdale. We all just about fell over laughing. I bet they have hardcore punk music shows in someones garage, with a few thirteen-year-olds who just started playing guitar two months ago when they bought the latest marilyn manson CD off the internet (can't get it at Walmart.)
So yeah, its nice to be able to find humor in lifes little situations.
Oh yeah, and there is a really cool spider on my front porch with a huge elaborate web. |
