Question: "what counties have a waiting period in florida on rifle purchases"
Answer: Tracking that info down isn't that easy. I have started to compile a list, but it is far from complete. That's the problem with allowing local governments to have different gun laws.
If you want a complete list, to my knowledge it doesn't exist. If I ever have time to complete that research, I will publish it here. If you live in a county that requires you to wait 3-5 days and just want to know where you can go pick up that .22 plinker immediately, just find some gun shops in nearby counties and ask them. Most counties have ordinances that echo state law regarding the 3-day waiting period for retail purchase of handguns.
As of right now, here's what I know about counties with additional requirements:
-Hillsborough county requires a 3-day wait to purchase any firearm at retail.
-Orange and Pinellas counties requires a 3-day wait for the purchase of any firearm when any portion of the transaction takes place on publicly accessibly property.
I'm sure there are more counties with similar restrictions. From what I have gathered so far, the following counties have no waiting periods for rifle sales: Alachua, Manatee, Pasco.
That's 6 out of 67 that I've figured out. It is a daunting task to compile this list, so if anyone has further info (including the actual ordinance if possible) I'd appreciate the input. |
