Seeing as how I just acquired one of the earlier 740-series rifles, I was pleased to find the latest edition of American Rifleman had a good article on the history of Remington semi-autos. The article reminded me of the 740's sister rifle, the slide-action 760, which happens to be the first high-power rifle I ever shot. My dad still has it too... aside from the one time I borrowed it, I doubt it has been shot more than twice since I was born.
A lot of us internet-folks tend to scoff the dead-tree media. As Robb said, print media basically just reminds us what we read yesterday (or a month ago) online. But on occasion you find valuable content. American Rifleman is mostly politics and ads these days, which I get more than enough of on the interwebs. But there is almost always at least one good article that teaches me something new. I can't say the same about many other niche publications. |
