Question: "is there a questionnaire to buy a gun"
Answer: Sorta.
In most states, if you are buying from a private individual, the questionnaire is one question: Do you want to buy this gun? Often there are more questions asked, such as "Are you at least 18 years old, a legal resident of this state, and not prohibited from possessing a firearm?" As long as you live in one of the free states, it is as simple as that.
If you are buying a gun from a federally licensed firearms dealer in any state, you have to fill out a Form 4473 which does include some background questions (see Section 12.) You have to be able to honestly answer the first one "Yes" and the rest of them "No" in order to purchase a firearm. |
