I've always kinda wrestled with the the concept of "net neutrality". I believe that free flow of information, unfettered by corporate interests, generally benefits liberty. On the other hand, the corporations who build infrastructure clearly ought to have a say in how their property is used. They have a right to make profits after all.
The point ESR makes is that both sides of the debate are screwing it up. Corporations want government regulations because they end up with a monopoly. Net-neutrality supporters are basically fighting for how much profit the corporations should be allowed.
