Question: "morgantown, wv gunshops"
Answer: My #1 choice is Marstillers. They don't have a website, or a particularly good selection of guns, but the "staff" is knowledgeable and friendly. The company has been there forever, and anyone in Morgantown who knows anything about guns has probably hung out there. They also have an indoor pistol range. They are located on Collins Ferry Road, out by FETC.
You have other options of course.
Sportsman's Refuge. I've only been there once, and it was to get fishing supplies. They are very archery-centric, but they do sell firearms and handle FFL transfers for a reasonable cost. They are all the way out in the Cheat Lake area.
Dunham's over by the Mountaineer Mall used to have a really good selection of long guns, including an entire rack of C&R guns. I assume they still do, but I haven't been there in 2 years.
Pawn shops. There are plenty of them around, and they all have buckets of cheap guns. Don't expect friendly service or good information, but you don't have to dig as hard to find good deals. Plus, with pawn shops you can usually negotiate cost.
WVU Rifle Team Annual Gun Bash. Not a gun shop, but it is worth waiting for, and worth paying to get in. This is the biggest gun show in the area. Not only do they give away a crapload of awesome stuff (from guns to ATVs to trucks) but the proceeds support the WVU Rifle Team. I'm not really even sure if they are still holding these events, but keep an eye out for them just in case.
WalMart still sells guns, although I wouldn't buy a gun from them if they were the last gun store on earth. I suppose if you want a cheap single-shot 12ga you can go there... but you can also get a perfectly good used one at a pawn shop for half the price. |
