Can I ask why the hell Charlie Crist (RINO) is pushing for legislation based on California's, with regard to "clean cars"?
This is patently ridiculous.
I'm all for clean cars. The free market wants them too, proof being the explosive sales of hybrid cars. People are willing to pay more for a car that gets better gas mileage. Cars that get better gas mileage pollute less. Therefore there is a market force pushing for more eco-friendly cars.
The thing is, instead of letting the market work, and letting the auto industry meet consumer demand, state (and federal) legislators are trying to push this crap down our throats.
The market clearly doesn't want these regulations, otherwise they would exist de facto. But the effort on the part of the manufacturers to lobby against such painful regulations just drains money that could otherwise be spent on R&D... or, I dunno, pensioners and overpaid union workers.
When are lawmakers going to wake up and realize that penalizing an already faltering auto industry makes no sense when there is already momentum swinging in the direction your legislation intends to push us? |
