Nelson wants to abolish the electoral college.
I know, we hear this every four years. Like clockwork. The problem is, people who are not raging idiots like the electoral college because it is, in essence, the last bastion of state power since the outrageous and ruinous 17th Amendment was passed (remember, we ignore the 10th amendment now.) Elimination of the electoral college would, even if only symbolically, put an end our cherished republic in favor of a rule-by-mob popular democracy. |
