Answer: Just throw it away and buy a new one... they're cheap.
Seriously, they are hard to really break down. Get a Hoppes BoreSnake in .22 for the barrel. You can lock the bolt back by pulling back and pushing the bolt handle in. Then follow the directions that come with your BoreSnake.
For the action, I recommend Birchwood Casey Gun Scrubber. You don't have to take the whole damn thing apart, but you can still blast out all the gunk.
I clean my barrel after (nearly) every trip to the range. I only clean the action after every brick or two of ammo. However, to keep it running, I lightly oil the action every few trips to the range. I also oil everything well if the gun will be stored for a while. |
