Question: "how to sporterize a m44 7.62x54"
Answer: Put down the dremel! Seriously. Leave your nice M44 alone. Buy a hunting rifle if you want a hunting rifle.
You can put a synthetic stock on it, and pop the bayonet off, but don't do anything that can't be reversed. Remember, if you do remove the bayonet, you'll probably have to adjust the front sight. Also, if you lose the wood stock, you will no longer have a front handguard (the barrel gets hot quick!)
That's it. There are a few no-gunsmith-needed "scout scope" adapters on the market... most of them are completely worthless. There may be good ones, but I've never seen one. If you absolutely have to have glass on your Mosin Nagant, buy a real M91/30 sniper. The M44 was never meant to mount optics on, and there's no good way to do it short of drilling holes in your gun. |
