I just realized two things. One, I have a whole crap-ton of ammo. Two, I don't have nearly enough ammo.
I have been able to find a little of every caliber I shoot recently. Nothing in large quantity, and all at inflated prices. Our local Wally World had a few boxes of .223 and .308, but not a single round of centerfire handgun ammo. They have occasionally had a box or two of 7.62x39, but that's actually the only caliber I'm properly stocked up on.
The thing is, even though the stores are mostly out of everything, I've found lots of ammo for sale on local gun boards. Sure, the prices are high, but at least it is available. Most sellers are also open to haggling and trades.
I've also had people scope out stores for me in other states, and the shortages seem to be somewhat localized. In WV, I've confirmed a store that still has a good stock of both .380 and 9mm. Does that mean folks up there aren't freaking out as much? |
