WV now has CCW reciprocity with Delaware. The state already has reciprocity agreements with PA and VA. Too bad Maryland doesn't afford the right of self defense to her subjects. Right now, if a WV resident in Berkeley Springs wanted to drive the 15 minutes to Dogtown, PA, they would have to stop before crossing the Potomac, remove their weapon, unload it, and store it securely in the trunk away from the ammo. Then after driving 5 minutes through Maryland, they could pull over, reload and reholster their weapon and continue on their way.
This latest news means WV residents with CCW permits may carry in a total of 20 other states now. WV also entered into a reciprocity agreement with North Dakota recently. There are at least 3 or 4 that should be added in short order, including Texas and (hopefully) Georgia.
There are some sticky points in WV's law that the WVCDL is trying to fix, which should make reciprocity with most of the rest of the country a little easier. |
