NRA-ILA just sent out an email listing some of the proposed gun-related legislation in Florida this year.
As usual, some really annoying Miami liberal Democrats are proposing the same go-nowhere assault-weapon-language bullshit that they introduce every year. Thankfully, it hasn't a snowball's chance in hell of even seeing a vote. I discussed the last attempt at this same garbage here.
The one that caught my eye this time around is one of those "Guns made in this state are not subject to federal laws" bills. I hope it passes, just so they can add one more to the list. The thing is, by itself, the law is meaningless, because the fedgov will claim their law overrules state law. They already have in every other case. But if enough states do it, then it might get enough nationwide attention. The bill has more to do with federalism than with gun, but I can't think of a better way to frame a states-rights challenge than in the context of the right to keep and bear arms. |
