The Iraqi sunrise this time of year is beautiful. The morning air, when it isn't too laden with dust, is quite pleasant. The weather has been mild. So far (and I know three weeks isn't that far into a year tour), I don't have much to complain about. When it rains, the mud is pretty gross, but it dries quickly. The food isn't gourmet, but it is actually better than I usually eat back home. The housing is... well... I live in a 3rd of a shipping container with ugly 1970s style wood paneling and a leaky door. But ya know what? Since I work 12 hour days, 7 days a week, I'm not really there enough to care. I have a bed, a roof, and A/C, and that's really all I care about.
