A while back, I mentioned this story about a man in Largo, FL who is a federally licensed firearms dealer, yet was denied a business permit by the city.
I haven't heard any follow-on news reports about it, but I did get an interesting tip from someone else in the area. It turns out that the mayor of Largo is a member of Bloomberg's Mayors Against Guns. The Largo Chief of Police is a known supporter of the Second Amendment. Nearly every city official who has been interviewed agrees there are no legal grounds for blocking his permit.
So my question is, why is Mayor Pat Gerard, an avowed anti-gun-rights politico, preventing someone from opening a gun shop, without any legal justification? The answer is both obvious and unsettling. |
