new stuff straight from the source Comment
    Beth, 11/25/03 3:51:25 pm
Howdy all. Some good news from the Beth. I got another job!! Weee. I'm doing great. This is the third on in 2 months. Totally not my fault tho. I just had been finding jobs where they couldn't afford to keep me. This one should be much more perminent.

I'm starting Monday and K****. I'll be an accounting assistant. I'm excited about learning all these new things. It's an IT consulting company from what I understand so far that does a lot of government work.

So in preperation for a brand new job what do I need most?? NEW CLOTHES!!!

Mom and I went to Pittsburgh yesterday because she thinks I needed some new nice work clothes, and she was right! I mean I'll never complain when she wants to take me on a shopping spree.

I have a few problems with clothing and shoe stores. First of all I DON"T WANT TO DRESS LIKE MY MOM!
Just because I'm not a size 10 doesn't mean I am old. Seriously there is no need for me to wear embrodered hourses and dogs on my sweaters. I can wear more pants than the elastice waist ones that go all the up to my boobs.
And I'm not wide. I'm tall. For pants to fit on my legs they don't fit any where else. If they fit everywhere else I can fit 4 other people in the legs, hips and butt.

It's all very frusterating. And let me tell ya about my feet. The way I see it i have a firm base to the world. My size 12 feet are strong and keep me from falling over. 'Cept no one sees it this way. They call me a freak and point and laugh and call me Big Foot. It's really uncalled for.

I have a dream. That one day my big footed little boys and big footed little girls can walk together into department stores and buy anything the want in the shoe department.

On another subject, Greg and I are looking to maybe buy a house in the spring. Where do you all think we should live? Any good ideas or helpful hints. I just want a nice little house that I can call my own. And stop renting!
Well that's all there is from me, i'll let you know how the jobs going after Monday.

hah. yay for new clothes! i'm asking for a suit from my dad for christmas.

but buying a house means you guys will never leave morgantown. that's sad. the world is big!
Re: Re: new stuff straight from the source
    Gregory Morris, 11/3/03 1:54:55 pm
No offense intended... but thats a load of crap, Monica. The reason we'd buy a house is not to get stuck with it for a long time, we won't buy a house unless it has gobs of resale potential. The point is, right now we are throwing away enough money on rent every month that we could be investing it in real estate. Whenever we want to move, we will, and we'll just sell the house and buy a new one. It may not be super easy, but you have to admit its better than throwing away money every month.

    and stop bad-mouthing morgantown!
just because we dont have a pro baseball team doesnt mean its all bad :)
we will all eventually leave, at some point.

i love morgantown dearly, joe, and i'm surprised you don't remember that. i always compare new towns i see to morgantown, and that's what makes me like them.

but i would this view no matter where we grew up, because no matter where you are, it's bad to stay there forever. if we grew up in new york or boston, i'd still believe it's good to get out of there, even if you come back some day.

and i don't believe you guys will leave when you want to or "eventually" because there are way too many stories of people getting stuck in west virginia because of intertia or their mortgage or anything else. and you guys aren't those people, and you should get out and see the world. by that i mean live in another place. and as you will find, that's a heck of a lot easier when you're young.

i bet owning is better than throwing away money every month. but it concerns me because it'll be one more reason to stay. it's hard to sell houses - my mom tried for 4 years. i'm just not convinced that you will be as mobile as you are now. but i'll stop harranguing you about this if you want.

    Gregory Morris, 11/4/03 10:32:42 am
    Harrangu all you want :)

I agree it is easier to leave when you are young. But what about those "way too many stories" you mentioned? Where are they? Gimme some examples. I bet most of them (not all, but most) have some variable that doesn't apply to us.

Your mom took 4 years to sell her house because it is a civil war era house in the middle of nowhere. Sure, its a kick-ass house, but it isn't an investment. Anyone buying it would know it would be nearly impossible to resell. As I mentioned before, we won't buy a house that will be that hard to sell. If we buy a townhouse close to town, for instance, those are easy to sell. And, btw, a mortgage is not something that will not get us "stuck" in WV. It isn't a big deal to buy a new house somewhere else. The only reason we're even considering it is to have money invested that will make our lives easier down the road. I don't intend to buy a house that I will keep very long... only one I can fix up a bit and resell.

I understand why you are worried about us being stuck in Morgantown, and although there are worse fates, I can't help but worry about it some myself. I'm not leaving until I finish grad school (whether I just stick with my masters, or get a PhD, whatever.) Once I am more marketable, moving will be easier anyway.

    jesus. mortgages?
what the hell happened to first period PE?
and monica, im not accusing you of not loving your town. that would simply be unfair.. i was just making light of the fact that you always ride us :)
dont think that cause you're in boston i cant bust your proverbial "balls" every once in awhile ;-)

Monica: you go girl! Best thing I ever did was move away from Boston to Morgantown where I knew no one. I grew up outside of Boston, worked in Boston, went to grad school in Boston and would have petrified there in psycological comfort. Never would have met Jos. dad in Boston!!!!

Well It's about time people commented on my posts. Dude usually ya'll only react if someone says, COMPUTERS, SPACE, LAW, or Joe meeting chicks. Hi Peggy!! Welcome to our site. As for the Morgantown moving away thing. Here's how it stands. It's so much cheaper to get out house buying start here if we were to buy our first house in a different state it would be harder and way more costly. We'll move some day, but what's wrong with being happy where we are for the moment? More to come later about new stuff.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: new stuff straight from the source
    monica, 11/6/03 7:57:31 am
    hey peggy. what's up.

yeah, that's what i'm talking about, psychological comfort. there's nothing wrong with being happy for the moment, it's just easier to stay in your comfort zone, but you never learn anything that way.

but you guys have made your decision, and go for it, as long as you don't feel tied down. so whatever. i'm looking forward to the parties in your new house :)
