Assault rifles: Dangerous , deadly and on our streets
Dangerous? Yeah, any gun is... but not on its own. Deadly? Yeah, any gun is... but not on its own. On our streets? Yeah... good point. I gotta go buy one tomorrow to keep it off the streets. Just doing my civic duty.
...they found a high powered assault rifle in the back seat of their car.
At least this bimbo called it an "assault rifle", which is a real term, instead of the made-up "assault weapon"... but I'll still bet you a million buckaroos that she doesn't have a clue what "high powered" even means... ya know, because a .22LR is high powered compared to a nerf gun. My .380ACP is high powered compared to a .22LR. And my 7.62x54R is high powered compared to my .380. And a .50 BMG is high powered compared to my 7.62.
Oh wait... just keep reading.(they) were armed with an SKS assault rifle.
Oh. An SKS. You mean like This one? They call it a "modified military weapon" whatever that means. Modified how? What, did they put decent sights on it? Maybe a synthetic stock? Big friggin whoop-de-do.
So... An assault rifle? Buzzzzz. Wrong. IMHO, the SKS is a plinking rifle. Besides, an assault rifle goes "bang bang bang" when you pull the trigger. An SKS goes "bang". When will they learn?
A high powered rifle? Buzzzzz. Wrong. This is a medium powered rifle. Most people don't even think this round is powerful enough for hunting big game. Sure it'll punch a hole in the side of a car, but so will a .22LR... the question is will it have enough power after penetrating the steel to do much damage?
"It's a military round. So chances are the vest we wear on a day to day basis would not have helped us a whole lot with that round."
Yeah, Mr. Cop... so is the .30-06, which is a helluva lot more powerful than a 7.62x39, but go ahead and try and tell me I can't have my deer hunting ammo! Cops don't wear vests that stop most center-fire rifle rounds... if they did, they wouldn't be able to chase bad guys, because they would be carrying around an extra 40lbs.
If you took all the useless crap terms and phrases out of this article, it would read:
Police arrested two drug dealers in a sting operation. The dealers, Antwan Gould and Derrick Howie, were both convicted felons. They were illegally in possession of a loaded rifle, but were arrested without incident. |
