Charlie is trying to make FL a littler "Greener".
I agree we should work on keeping the environment cleaner, but we still need coal. Writing Executive Orders demanding utilities use more alternative energy sources will just drive my costs up. How about just offering a tax break to people who use more environment-friendly power?
Crist is expected to sign a pact with the United Kingdom today vowing cooperation to combat global warming. Bad Crist! No, state governors cannot sign "pacts" with other countries. That would be improper, and IMHYCO, illegal.
"I have no faith the feds will act any time soon. In fact, the feds are in our way." Yeah, see, the thing is, I don't like either you or the Feds writing policy like this. But at least at the federal level, politicians argue enough about these contentious issues that nothing gets done most of the time. Not only do I have "no faith the feds will act" but I also have that hope. If anybody should do anything, it should be in the form of deregulation, and tax-break incentives for clean-energy innovation.
Now, I still like Crist for the most part. He has some serious balls. He has done a lot to cut taxes here in FL, and I have no doubt he'll continue on that course. But if my energy costs rise to negate the tax breaks, what was the point?
