Some Japanese dude railing against America's freedom
I wonder what his great-great-great-great-Grandfather thought when they outlawed his sword.
I'm sick of people quoting statistics like this day-in and day-out. Yes, a lot of people are killed in America with guns. What you forget is that a lot of people's lives are saved with guns every year. Is it a valid trade-off? We answer that with a resounding "Yes". Our reasoning? We can not, and therefore do not, expect the state to protect us. In fact, we are rather distrustful of the government. Read some history and you'll understand why we feel this way. Don't think that this is some "new age" where the same shit doesn't happen, because believe me, it does and it will.
This guy asks how we can react so differently to a bridge collapse than we do a shooting... well, after the bridge collapse, we are trying to make our infrastructure safer. That doesn't mean banning bridges or trucks. Cho's gun didn't kill anyone, Cho did. It was the government's failure that guaranteed the students would not be able to protect themselves. |
