Part sarcasm. Not all whales are endangered. The "damage" Japan does is minimal. I'm entirely against hunting whales that are in danger of extinction, but I have not problem with hunting some whales for food. The thing is, demand for whale meat is on the decline in Japan, since the whaling industry was nearly shut down in the 70s and 80s. Nobody needs whale oil anymore. Less demand == less hunting. But... I'm not going to call for a ban on all hunting by any means.
