It's been all over the news. Now for my thoughts on it.
Cool. Do you think the United States will ever be invaded by anyone (aside from Mexico)? Nope.
That many guns means it is impossible to get rid of them all. So Sarah Brady, you have an impossible task ahead of you. Starting out by disarming the law-abiding citizens may not be the best tactic.
7 guns per 10 people outside the US. 9 per 10 here. US citizens own about 1/3 of the privately owned guns in the world.
There are more violent crime in places where there are less guns worldwide. We've been saying that about the US for years now, but we have numerical proof that it is true on a global scale.
There are more civil rights atrocities in places where there are less guns. Of course, that is because only the human rights abusers have guns, not the victims.
We have the best armed citizen militia on the planet. And at least a few hundred of us stocked up on ammo yesterday.
I never knew India had so many guns... I mean, 46 million guns is a lot, but consider that India's population is nearing 1.1 billion. You really need to look at per-capita numbers to get an idea of how well people are armed.
Somewhere between 30% and 40% (some say more, some say less) of Americans actually own guns. Most gun owners have more than one gun. I wonder what those numbers are like in other countries.
How is the UN going to skew this data to push for global gun bans?
"Weapons ownership may be correlated with rising levels of wealth..." I agree. Guns are expensive. That's why I only have 3. |
