Gun in pocket or purse; are we safer?
Ask the question "are we safer" in the title, then admit that isn't what you are getting at. "Do you feel safer?" is what you really mean.
Frankly, I don't give a flying fuck at a rolling donut for your feelings.
"In recent years, the state has logged between 1,800 and 1,900 handgun deaths per year." And how many of those were actually crimes committed by CCW holders? Hmmmm? Let's see, I'll wager somewhere in the neighborhood of zero, give or take. Why don't you take a second and look at the actual circumstances of those deaths. Most of them are gang-related, or criminal-on-criminal killing. Cry about those if you want, but I won't.
One good example of this firearms extremism passed two years ago, with the approval of legislation that allows any person to shoot at someone he or she feels poses a credible threat. That law, known as the "castle doctrine" or "shoot first (and ask questions later)" law, has already spread to 15 states. It has spread to 15 states because it is a good law. The law doesn't allow anyone to do anything that they weren't previously allowed to do. It mostly cleared up some ambiguity in how prosecutors handle cases, and guaranteed that lawful use of force would not result in expensive civil suits.
The National Rifle Association is also pushing hard against mental-health screening and safety training requirements. You are a liar. I'm done with you. |
