Let's Pry Open Those Cold, Dead Hands
Apparently, I am:
"The People of the Gun"
a member of the "gun army"
a member of the "gun lobby"
"juggernaut of a website"
a "gun stalwart"
a "gun lover"
Heh... well, I'm not organized by the NRA... I don't even get along with them all that well. I'm a member of the independent internet gun lobby.
To quote Laura Washington: "But here’s a news flash: No one is listening." That about sums it up. Nobody is listening because destruction of the bill of rights is not a winning political strategy. I find it amazing that you don't realize how anti-gun the media is... we gun nuts get precious little positive mainstream press. But we're still winning. You know why? First of all, those poll numbers are bogus. Anyone can word a leading question to steer results in any way they choose... in this case, "more people want gun control." Regardless of 60 or 70 or 80 percent (or whatever number you want to make up) more gun control is simply not an option. Even if we are a minority, that doesn't change the constitution.
Just for fun, lets look at a few more quotes...nearly half the people murdered in the United States in 2005 were black. Murdered... by whom? By guns? Or, by and large, other African Americans?Gun control advocates should piggyback on the success of online activist groups like MoveOn.org and MeetUp.com. Um... yeah, go on ahead and do that. As soon as they get George Soros to line their pockets...The lethal success of the gun lobby is rooted in its ability to sway legislators of both Democratic and Republican persuasion. Let's see here... how do you sway legislators? One: Money. Paid by members who support what the NRA is doing... it doesn't come from some magic pro-gun money tree. Two: Votes. Self explanatory. ...made up almost exclusively of white men from suburban and rural areas... I know quite a few women who would be put off by that statement. In fact, most "feminists" I know are pro-self-defense... otherwise they aren't feminists. So if you refer to yourself as a feminists, feel free to consider Laura Washington your chauvinist-friendly arch-enemy.Get those ladies organized, and watch out! We just went over this... women who care about their right to defend themselves and their children against rapists and murderers are not going to jump on your bandwagon. The ones that will are simply not educated about guns and self defense.Whenever I write about the plague of gun violence, I get a huge blowback from the gun lovers of America. Heh. Keep 'em coming, we'll keep knocking 'em down. I don't intend my hands to be dead or cold for quite a while... So keep on prying, I'll keep on reloading.
