Saturday was a good day to start the healing. WVU completely stomped Syracuse, who was (until Steve Slaton and Owen Schmitt put the hurt on 'em) reveling in their victory over Louisville. That felt good. It was a nearly perfectly executed game. Only a few penalties. Our third string got a chance to play (I still think Bednarik is a good QB, btw.)
Bad news, our #1 guy has what may be a season-ending injury. Pat White started the game after recovering from another injury last week. Of course, I'm hoping it is just a little bit of a bang-up, but if he broke his collar-bone, he'll be riding the sideline for the rest of the season... and if that happens, I'm gonna blame Rodriguez. When you are up by a gazillion points, you take out your start players. That's what you do. I know he's a Heisman candidate and all, but the team is more important than a few stats.
Still, if White is out, I have no doubt that Brown can pick up the slack. I'm just hoping it doesn't come to that. If it was a shoulder injury, he may have a chance... but it looked to me like a broken collar bone. Man, that would be depressing. |
