It's an odd sensation being alone when you haven't done so for over a year. As Greg posted before he's at the 5th HOPE in NYC. So in order to save money I decided to stay home in Morgantown.
I'm not really doing anything different that I normally would on a weekend, but it feels different doing it without Greg. I went out last night to Bent Willy's with Megan and Liz. Had fun. Drank some drink. Just relaxed. But I knew I would have to come home to an empty house.
I feel asleep ok, but woke up to this strange quiet room. No snoring or breathing beside me. No blankets pulled off of me. It was quiet and I was fully covered.
When you get married, you marry this person you love with all your soul. You marry your best friend. And you know all of that. What I didn't fully appreciate is that you become family.
Family is someone you come home to. Family is someone who knows exactly what you need to brighten your day. Family is someone who you look at and feel bright and joyful just looking at them. Family is someone who makes you feel safe just by being in the same house as them. Family is someone you are related to in a way that no one else can be.
This weekend I really realized Greg has become my family. He was always everything else, but I guess it took almost a year of marriage to realize how important he was to me as family.
