This collection of news article clippings at Les Jones is enough for me not to like the guy. How often do you hear the gun-rights crowd demanding more stringent enforcement of the law? How often do you hear us pounding our fists because we want politicians to be tough on crime? It seems to me that Huckabee has a little too much faith in the ability of convicted career criminals to be "saved". I, for one, see no reason why a criminal who has been "saved" should not remain in jail. If he has truly taken Jesus into his heart, then it is not this world he should be concerned about. He can minister to the other prisoners. If it turns out he was lying, and you let him out, and he robs, rapes, and murders...
The reason we have a crime problem in America isn't the lack of good laws. It is because we are afraid to lock up a murderer and throw away the key.
Simply put, I'm not 100% opposed to Huckabee, but I want a president who will take a tough stance on crime and punishing criminals. It is going to take a lot of effort for him to convince me that he has what it takes. |
