Burglar shot by homeowner. (via TFS Magnum)
I don't post a lot of these stories, because they are quite common, and not really news. Bad guy (or gal in this case) breaks in to someone's property, and the owner shoots them. In WV, of course, they are working on improving the laws regarding the castle doctrine, but only to codify the current practice.
What caught my attention about this article, is that the reporter correctly identified the victim (the home owner) and the criminal (the one that got shot). Of course, we are talking about West Virginia which is one of the few places in the country where the right to self defense hasn't been muddled by countless poorly written and contradictory laws. |
