    Post-Florida Shakedown Comment

Bye Bye Giuliani. Bye Bye Edwards. Neither of you will be missed, except that losing Edwards will cost IMAO precious comedic material.

McCain is looking stronger now than he did in 2000. If it is true that Rudy is gonna drop out and endorse McCain, then that could end up being the winning ticket. I still like McCain more than Romney, although I like being kicked in the nuts more than I like either of them. I'm kinda wondering what Fred is doing these days, since Giuliani may be courting McCain for the veep spot. I imagine it involves carnal activities with his hottie wife. Can't say I blame him.

Oh, and our tax cut semi-narrowly won. 64%, when 60% was needed. Cool. Maybe we should only apply the new homestead exemption to folks who voted for it... heh. That'll teach those damned Miami liberals.

I'm scared now. I fear we will be looking at McCain/Giuliani '08 v. Clinton/Richardson? or Clinton/Biden? '08. *shudders* and more Democrats getting Congressional seats *hides under desk*

Well, it might be a good time to stock up on "assault weapons" and ammunition. If the evil she-bitch wins, I'm going straight to the store to purchase a few stripped AR15 lower receivers and hi-cap magazines.

    Laughingdog, 1/30/08 11:16:38 am
I think you mean "full capacity" magazines. There's no such thing as a high-cap magazine, only full capacity and "good god, who wants a magazine that small!"
    Re: Post-Florida Shakedown
    Gregory Morris, 1/30/08 11:38:09 am
    I differentiate magazines like this:
"standard capacity" is whatever was initially designed for a particular firearm, such as 7 round 1911 mag, or a 100 round mag for a Calico
"high capacity" is putting those ridiculous huge plinking mags on your 10/22, or a 30 round detachable mag for your SKS. The 10/22 works fine with a big magazine, but they aren't standard. The SKS works (well, sometimes) with those big mags as well, but it originally came with a 10 round box mag.
"castrated capacity" is using a "California approved" magazine, such as the 10-round mag for the Ruger SR9.

I know politicians like to say "more than 10 == hi-cap", but they are complete morons. But since the AR15 wasn't really designed for any particular "standard" magazine, I just mean "magazines big enough to scare anti gun morons". A bunch of 20s. Maybe a drum. Maybe some of those 30 or 50 round SKS mags too.

I took a principled stand on the Amendment - I didn't vote on it at all.

Couldn't vote in either primary (Registered Independent) and I abhor changing the constitution for such piddly things. At the same time, I cannot vote against a tax break. So technically I could not vote what I wanted so I didn't vote at all.

We shouldn't be amending the constitution with such ease. I'll try to have more on this later.

I agree about not changing the constitution for piddly things, but... a lot of this is stuff that is already in the constitution, and it is just being tweaked to lower taxes.
The homestead exemption is already in the constitution, for instance, and the amendment just changed the numbers in our favor.

This time, yes, but just like giving a politician power because he believes the same thing you do, eventually someone else will take the helm and use that power against you.

The same thing happens when you get people thinking that amending the constitution is something that should happen over friggin' tax rates.
