I spent today fishing... a day of relaxation I was desperately in need of. Photos and report after the break.
We went out of John's pass, about 25 miles or so out. The seas were a little rough on the way out, and it sprinkled a little bit throughout the day, but it was calm and pleasant on our way back to the ramp. Fishing was pretty good, and we caught a lot of undersize fish. We only kept two big red groupers, a big scamp, a mangrove snapper, and a triggerfish (I didn't even know they were food, but I guess they are pretty good.) Anyway, here are the pics. Enjoy:
Here is a sea robin I caught while we were filling the baitwell using sabiki rigs.
Here is a baby remora that was attached to the big triggerfish doug caught.
Here is one of the 15 or so American Red Snapper we caught. Since they are out of season, we had to safely release all of them. The "closed season" thing is supposed to help stop over-fishing, but the way they were biting, they might as well have been pinfish.
Doug caught a shark and got it up to the boat. It bit off the line (which is good since we weren't going to boat it anyway.) This is my first attempt at taking a picture of the shark in the water.
Second attempt at photographing the shark that Doug caught.
Tiger Shark! Absolutely beautiful critter.
Tiger Shark Again.
Here is the final tally. Not a lot of keepers, but enough for dinner for a few nights.
And here is Doug with his big Red Grouper.
This one was actually from fishing with my father-in-law on Christmas Eve, but I never got around to uploading the picture.
