We're still moving. I really should take a queue from Todd and post more pictures in the blog. Things are just too crazy right now... i don't even know where my digital camera is, other than vaguely "somewhere in a box". I really can't wait until this weekend when we get the rest of our furniture. The first thing in our house was living room furniture, because Beth couldn't wait to get it. I don't blame her really, its been very useful in the course of moving (nothing like a big new comfy couch to crash on after carrying boxes all day.) However, we haven't spent the night at the new house yet, because we have no bed there.
We noticed something last night when we were sitting out on the back patio... Woodburn is much much quieter than Sunnyside. I know this would be obvious to anyone who's lived in Morgantown, but it doesn't hit you until you are sitting outside on a clear night looking at the stars (which you also can see at our new house...) and you hear nothing but the occasional dog or siren way off in the distance. Inside you can't even hear that. I have a strange feeling that getting to sleep at night might be harder without noise (i.e. - parties, loud cars, screaming, fire trucks, random crashes.)
In other news...
We listened to the vice-presidential debate last night. I had hoped Cheney would come off looking and sounding like a slug debating Frank Sinatra. Unfortunately, he was very authoritative, and I think he did well. Edwards was so-so. I didn't actually see them, since we have no tv at the moment (thank God for NPR), but I'm sure Edwards looked better than Cheney. However, nobody expects Cheney to look as good as Edwards. I'd probably say they tied, based on what I heard, although Edwards really didn't have any authority to his voice... all he did was reference Kerry, which is what he was supposed to do, but he came off sounding like "my daddy can beat up your daddy." He played right into the republican's sketch of "Edwards: The Inexperienced Kid." |
