The trigger is pretty lousy... I mean, what do you expect from a $100 rifle? Ok, actually my SKS was only $100, and the trigger on it is a dream. But thats beside the point.
Anyway, I took it apart today to see if I could clean it up a little bit, since it is real gritty, and has a little bit of over-travel. The latter isn't a particularly big concern, because I can just put a screw in to stop that, but the grittiness gets on my nerves. Anyway, long story short... what a clusterfuck. That is by far the dumbest trigger design I've seen (not that I'm a scholar on the subject, but still.) The worst part was trying to get the damn thing back together.
If I work up the courage to take it apart again, I'll take some pictures and put up a tutorial, since apparently nobody else has done that yet.
Oh, I also put a scope on it. The sights aren't terrible, but my eyes just aren't good enough to use the factory sights, and they didn't exactly design them to be replaced or upgraded. I went with a cheapo walmart scope to match the cheapness of the rifle... No point in putting serious glass on a $100 plinker. I'm heading to the range tomorrow, so if the scope will hold zero, I'll keep it, otherwise, I'll toss it, either way no big deal. |
