I'm flabbergasted about this one.
First of all, the Supreme Court case isn't about allowing people to carry guns in DC. It is about allowing people to keep them at all. Clearly this is another op-ed author who is either misinformed (by the VPC's and Brady Campaign's avalanche of misleading press releases) or he's just being dishonest. I generally give folks the benefit of the doubt, and besides VPC/BC understand that to get people to parrot their lies, they just have to keep saying them over and over. So let's just say he's honestly mis-informed...
Well, we've heard it before anyway... "forget the 2A, just get rid of guns... its for the children." Ok, fine. Then repeal the Second Amendment. Seriously, you can't just ignore law that you don't like, especially constitutional law. Repeal it. Then you can come and try to take away my guns.
"The safety of our citizens is far more important than their selfish claim that their Second Amendment rights would be violated." Wow. Ok. Just try the same tact with the First Amendment... or the Fourth Amendment. Hell, try any of them!
I'm sorry, this isn't a matter of opinion... I'm Ok with papers publishing honest anti-gun op-eds. Everyone has a right to state their side. However, this is just complete unadulterated garbage.
Oh, and do you think perhaps "Michael J. Doust" is this guy? I mean, not an American? |
