There are days when I love Microsoft's .NET. Some days, you take a GridView and give it any old data source and it works flawlessly. Everything compiles. Everything runs.
Then there are days like today when you keep getting the error "Eventhandler not found" when you know DAMN WELL IT IS there because you just quadruple-checked the damn thing but .Net is gonna be a motherfucker anyway and pretend it CAN'T SEE A GODDAMN FUNCTION and you know its just doing it to piss you off and you've checked into all the stupid different fucking things that Microsoft does to cause you headaches and you even tried Googling the problem and you've tried every possible goddamn thing that anyone has suggested and even some crazy shit that nobody else would think of including deleting the entire damn file and starting from scratch but is still won't work and you are really getting ready to TAKE A BIG FUCKING HAMMER and SMASH THE DAMN COMPUTER even though you know it isn't the COMPUTER'S FAULT but its actually some MICROSOFT DOT NET DEVELOPER who deserves the hellish wrath you feel like unleashing on the next person who comes along and ask how the DAMN APPLICATION is going because it should have been done a WEEK AGO but stupid shit like this keep wasting your fucking time when you should be spending your time doing more important shit that is actually going to be useful and not a stupid web application that will be used by about four people until they decide to shelve it in sixth months because they found a COTS product that comes in a prettier fucking box even though you TOLD THEM from the BEGINNING that this entire project was a complete waste of time but nobody ever listens to me anyway because you are just a goddamn brilliant engineer and not a fucking manager or director and you don't suck up enough but it doesn't matter because even if you did you're still just a subcontractor with pretty much no chance of moving up within the organization but that's OK because you'll just get another damn job in a few months and they can suck on it when they decide to unshelve the application months later after you're gone and find out that they have to maintain code that is written so amazingly above their levels of intellect they may damn well have to hire you on as a private consultant because that COTS product they found doesn't actually do what they want.
Fuck. Breath.
Its probably something simple anyway.
(BTW, I don't know why my naughty-word filter has a problem with "shit" but not "fuck".) |
