So yeah, here I am in Cary, North Carolina, sitting in a relatively cozy suite room in a residency inn. I spent all of yesterday driving down here, listening to some strange spy-novel-on-tape... One of my project's managers was driving with me, and let me tell you, when the typical crappy author puts in the obligitory raunchy scene, it doesn't bother me, except when its playing on the radio and my boss is sitting next to me. Oh well, it was his choice to listen to it.
Anyway... So I started my new job on Friday, and things seem rather disorganized. The company is very on top of the game, but the project itself seems to be lacking in information. I don't know who's fault that is, but I guess I'm gonna have to dive in and bust my ass to get things rolling. Of course, until I get some kind of clearance (same goes for the rest of the project staff) we can't even see most of the important stuff.
I'm learning about Oracle 10g right now, since that is going to be the backbone of the system we are developing. So far, I've sat through hours of class, and it has been mostly review, but the teacher seems cool, and so far, I've gotten along ok with all the other ISR folks down here.
Well, I guess I should get ready to go out and get some food (on the company dime of course.) |
