Guns to work day is upon us... and I'm waiting to hear about all the carnage.
Anyway, been a while since I fisked BN9, so... Starting today, Florida workers will legally be able to take their guns to work with them. Wrong. You've always been legally allowed to bring your gun to work. There may have previously been a contractual issue that has been voided by this law, but nothing has really changed... including who is or is not bringing a gun to work.
People are now allowed to keep their guns locked in their cars parked on company property. Nothing has changed. If they know you have a gun and ask you to leave because of it, you must leave or face trespassing charges. If nobody knows there is a gun in your glovebox, then assuming you are legally allowed to own a gun, no law has been broken. This was always the case. The new law pretty much just says that the company can't search your car or fire you for having a gun locked up in your glovebox. They can still fire you for doing anything else, including picking your nose on company time, or wearing the wrong shade of green.
A judicial decision isn't expected until mid-July. That means workers will legally be allowed to carry guns in the meantime. Um, yeah. Same thing. You think the layers of editorial oversight would have picked up on the fact this article basically stated the same exact thing three times... incorrectly. Its never ceases to amaze me how the media willfully gets this stuff wrong.
