Vamanos a la aeropuerto!
The last day of seeing the beach... Sad. We woke up this morning fairly early to pack so we’d have enough time to go walk on the beach one last time. I slowly packed and then pouted and packed and then pouted some more. I don’t even want to think about what it will be like being at home. I finally finished and unhappily put on jeans. We packed up the beloved P.O.S. jeep and drove down to Akumal bay. We walked in the sand and looked out on the water. Greg collected more shells to bring home. It was a melancholy sort of walk since we knew we had to leave, so we slowly dragged our feet a bit heading back to the jeep. Our friends were having breakfast at the launcheria, so we waved goodbye as we drove out of town. It was an uneventful drive back. The jeep behaved and we took her back to Easyway, sandy and in slightly worse off shape. No problems returning it, and then we went back to the airport. We got there quite early and found out that we couldn’t even check into our flight for another two hours. We got some really salty expensive airport breakfast and then got in line to wait. There was another woman who was in Akumal in line who had been there on business. I want to travel to Mexico for business! How great is that? We got checked in and then hit up the duty free stores. We totally loaded up on cheap alcohol. I finished shopping for mom and Erin and we ate some lunch. Soon it was time to leave lovely Cancun for colder West Virginia. As I write this, I am a plane headed to Pittsburgh. I keep trying to come up with a profound summary or lessons learned, but this week wasn’t about that. I didn’t do much thinking at all this week. Before I left it had been a very difficult, very mentally draining few months. This week I allowed myself time off from being me. No worries, no stress, no questioning of the future. Just me, some sunshine, and a clear mind.
