    Why she's a good pick* (even though I still will have trouble voting for McCain/PALIN 08):

    I am guessing that, if the Republicans are smart, they will use energy costs and inaction from the Democrat Congress as a centerpiece issue in the election. Palin can come in and say, "Hey, I'm from Alaska and I know domestic oil. We should drill in ANWR and the Democrats won't let us. This is why you should vote McCain/Palin 08."

    *besides the reasons being touted (i.e. that she's a woman and a popular governor and came from middle class roots)

    I have trouble voting for McCain, but I have a lot less trouble voting for him than I would Obama. Especially now that McCain picked a VP that I like, and Obama picked a VP that I dislike almost as much as Obama.

    She's also an NRA member, hunter, and friend of gun owners, which doesn't hurt at all. Obama is as anti-gun as Biden.

    She's an NRA member, but there are plenty of people McCain could have picked that are pro gun or at least not anti gun (or who could at least pose for a photo with a gun and hunting camo on), so I don't think she was picked to get gun voters. I really think energy is going to be one of the biggest issues in this campaign (again, if the McCain campaign has a brain...rhyme much?...). McCain saying "the surge is working" over and over again won't get him very far agains Barack Oratorius Maximus Obama. Having an attractive, strong, political woman with ties to Alaska and energy might.

    I'm just saying the gun issue is one of the reasons I like her. Remember though, if they did a hunting photo-op with her like they did with John Kerry, Palin would bring her own gun! That isn't the case for some politicians. Gun owners saw through the lie when Kerry attempted it. McCain needed someone who really is a gun owner to energize the gun vote.

    She's also a fiscal conservative. She's cut spending, and gone after spenders. She's actually got experience doing stuff, unlike Obama, whose experience thus far seems to include nothing more than running for political office.

    But yeah, the energy thing is big. When Pelosi goes after her views about drilling in ANWR, Palin can say "Oh yeah? Well have you been to ANWR? I have."

    Yeah. From what I've heard of her, I definitely like her. I wish it could be Jindal/Palin 08. Or Paul/Walter Williams 08. But I don't get my wish I guess.
