Uncle comments: It also helps that, unlike Hillary, she doesn’t sound like she’s talking into a fan when she gives a speech.
That will make the remainder of campaign season more bearable.
I think the biggest thing is that she's actually energizing people. Obama has been doing that since the primaries, but McCain has been... well, there. Now all of the conservatives who were only gonna vote for McCain because he isn't Barack It was a rock lobster Obama have something to be excited about.
Strategically it was also a brilliant move by McCain, for a few reasons.
One, people can't talk about The Messiah's speech last night because that isn't nearly as exciting as Sarah Palin.
Two, it will win over a lot more ex-Hillary-supporting fence-sitters.
Three, it will get a lot of disenfranchised conservatives and moderates back into the game.
Four, libertarians might actually like her.
Five, in contrast to Biden, she's just going to look better.
Six, the Democrats are going to have to do something they have never been able to do well: attack a woman candidate.
Seven, she's going to be a key player in the energy policy debate, which is necessarily going to be one of the biggest issues this election.
Eight, she is #2 on the ticket, and the opposing ticket's #1 man has less experience and credentials than her.
Nine, she'll command the bitter gun owner vote quite nicely.
I'm sure there's plenty more.
I'm interested to see how the Dems go after her... she smoked pot? Big deal. Bill Clinton did too, and the Democrats loved him for it. She's anti-abortion? Going after a loving mother of five on her pro-family creds won't play well. Go after her experince? She's done more than Obama... so good luck with that attack.
I could see a few ways the Republicans could go after her because she doesn't march in lock-step with the party-line... but you won't see any attacks from the right. |
